ISL: Odisha FC edge out North East United FC 2-1

Odisha FC kept themselves in the hunt for a play-off spot after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over North East United FC in the 82nd match of the Hero Indian Super League at the Kalinga stadium here on Happy Valentine`s Day today.

Martin Chaves handed the visitors in the lead, netting the first goal of the match in the 24th minute. But Odisha FC turned it around in the second half, thanks to a goal each by Manuel Onwu (46’) and Martin Perez Guedes in the 46th and 72nd minutes respectively.

The win saw Odisha rise to the fifth spot and still have a chance of qualifying for the play-offs, while the poor run of form North East United’s continued. This was the seventh win for Odisha FC, who now have 24 points from 17 matches.

Odisha FC will next play their 18th and last match against Kerala Blasters FC at Kalinga Stadium here on February 23.

The Club Award of today’s match was given to Odisha FC as they won the game. Manuel Onwu collected the Player of the Match Award and also the Winning Pass of the Match Award. Nim Dorjee took the Emerging Player of the Match Award while Xisco Hernandez grabbed the Hero of the Match Award.
